A post-Medieval silver coin: a very worn groat of Mary, dating from 1553 - 1554. It has been bent in half and there are sections missing from the rim. It is 22.4mm in diameter and 0.4mm thick. It weighs 0.93gm. Reference: North, volume 2, number 1960.

Elizabeth I shilling (judging by the size of the coin remaining after clipping) and the fact that no rose is present behind the bust. Inner circle on the ob is beaded. The shilling is of the sixth issue and the bust is type 6b as the very faint outline of the ear can sill be seen on the bust. Ob legend would have read as ELIZAB D G ANG FR ET HIB REGI. Rev legend would have read as POSVI DEV ADIVTOREM MEV. North 2014 Date is 1582-1600.
