Medieval to Post Medieval (late 15th to late 16th century) lead cloth seal: The seal is composed of. It is composed of a two overlaying sub-circular discs, one has a circular perforation the other has an integral flattened stud on the reverse. A portion of the edge is abraded suggesting originally an integral ribbon connecting the two discs. The outer face of the stud disc has a large F with a sun motif one side and a flower the other. Around the edges there is a legend, which only a fragment remains on the flan and reads '...LANGII P'. The annulet disc and the centre of the flattened…

Lead cloth seal. Pair of cast discs linked by sprue and clamped together. One side bears the motif of a bishop's mitre within a tressure with trefoils or lis on its cusps. The other side bears a W (or possibly M) with an annulet on either side within a pelleted circle. Patinated overall. The mitre was among the badges associated with the German city of Augsburg, noted for its fustian cloths. An early post-medieval date is suggested by the letter style. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1600.
