A cast copper alloy, single loop buckle with an integral plate, dating from about AD 1250 - 1400. It has an oval frame with a broad outer edge and a pointed knop at each end of the strap bar. The plate is narrow, tapering to a point, and is decorated with two transverse ridges flanking a bulbous area. There is a single rivet hole containing the remains of a copper alloy rivet, and a circular perforation for the pin below the strap bar. The pin is missing. The buckle has a rough, light green patina. It is 31mm long, 12.7mm wide and 5.4mm thick. It weighs 2.63gm.
