Copper alloy with blue and white enamel brooch fragment. Cast dragonesque brooch with a body of reverse S form, Mackreth type DRAG 3.ax. The head has an expanded nostril and has perhaps lost something from its top. The body bears a series of five enamelled panels: the ends were pointed and the central panels rectangular, with enamel alternating from one end as dark blue, off-white, lost, off white and dark blue. The light construction of the piece, with detail retained as a negative impression on the hollow back, suggests this may be from a decorative item of tableware in Neo-Classical style.
