A complete Modern base metal and coated copy of a 'sixpence' of Charles I (1625-1649), 1900-2000.
This coin copies the silver shillings minted at Pontefract during 1648 and 1649, the so-called 'siege' pieces. Sixpences were never minted at Pontefract, but were at Scarborough in 1644-5 and Newark in 1646. However, these latter types are square or diamond-shaped in profile, not disc-shaped as in this case.
