Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An incomplete lead alloy rowel spur of Post Medieval date. The spur consists of an oval sectioned neck which splits to form the rowel box with perforations with which to secure the rowel. An incomplete cast copper alloy (latten) spoon of Post Medieval date (c.1500-1650) in two parts. The spoon was found in two fragments and the break appears recent. The bowl has also been torn close to half way across the bowl from the edge. The bowl of this spoon is 'fig'-shaped and has a length of 61.56mm and a width of 45.31mm. A complete, but bent, Post-Medieval gilt copper alloy strap mount in the form of an acorn. On the front, the seed is plain, but gilded, and has a small knop at its apex. The cupula is decorated with low relief cross hatching, and is also gilded. The gilding only survives in a few patches. The undecorated reverse has two intact integral spikes at either end of the centre, one near the knop and the other near the stalk. These remain in the curved position which would have attached the mount to a leather strap or belt. Textile remains, which appears to be leather, is still in place…

An incomplete Post-Medieval gilt copper alloy strap mount in the form of an acorn. On the front, the seed is plain, but gilded, and has a small knop at its apex. The cupula is decorated with low relief cross hatching, and is also gilded. The gilding only survives in patches. At the base of the cupula is an extension which has clearly broken. In comparison to similar mounts, this probably represented the stalk of the acorn (See IOW-B16A81). The undecorated reverse has the remains of two integral spikes at either end of the centre, one near the knop and the other near the stalk. T…
