A fragment of a rowel spur probably dating from the Post Medieval period, probably the 17th century. It consists of two sections of a divided, copper alloy neck and a rowel of six points.The outer ends of the neck are pierced to take a copper alloy pin on which the rowel is mounted; this pin remains in place. The outer sides of the neck are decorated with shallow, diagonal grooves which give the effect of twisted wire (barley twist). Incomplete Late Saxon tin-coated copper alloy disc brooch depicting a backward-turning beast. About half of the edge is missing. Tinning survives patchily on the front face. Set within a circle of pellets, the beast, with all four legs three-toed, turns to regard its upturned tail. Its eye is indicated by a punched ring-and-dot. On the reverse the incomplete pin lug lies parallel with the edge but the catchplate is missing. Diameter 27.5mm. 10th century.
