A cast lead alloy,biconvex spindle whorl, probably of late medieval or early post-medieval date, AD 1400 - 1600. It is pierced with a central, circular hole (9mm diameter), in one side of which is a rectangular concavity. One face is decorated with a pattern of random pellets, the other side is very worn but has traces of raised lines in a lattice pattern. It is 25.6mm in diameter and 9.4mm thick. It weighs 28.12gm. Decorated whorls are usually attributed to the 15th or 16th century.

A cast lead alloy spindle whorl of unknown date. It is circular and flat (discoidal), without any decoration, and has a central, circular hole of 8mm diameter. It is 25.4mm in diameter and 7.3mm thick. It weighs 29.06gm. The metal is patiated to a white colour, with a recent gash showing as unpatinated grey metal. Flat discoidal whorls were used from the Iron Age through the Early Medieval period, and probably later too (Walton Rogers 2007). It is an example of a Coppergate Type B1 whorl.

A cast, lead alloy papal bulla of Pope Nicholas IV (AD 1288-92). As usual, the obverse depicts Saints Paul and Peter. The reverse has the Pope's name in three lines, NICO/LAUS/PP IIII. The bulla has a light cream-coloured patina. It is damaged at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock where it has a vertical hole running through the bulla for the attachment string. The faces of the bulla are also cracked along this line. Recent damage has removed the patina and bent the bulla too. It is 36.1mm in diameter and 5.6mm thick. It weighs 39.87gm. It weighs 17.6gm. The lead has a creamy white patina. Similar whorls are discussed in Walton Rogers (2007). She suggests that this shape and central holes of a diametre of 6-9mm are more likely to be 6th century in date. However, neither feature is a reliable dating technique, so a later date is also possible.

A fragment of a rowel spur probably dating from the Post Medieval period, probably the 17th century. It consists of two sections of a divided, copper alloy neck and a rowel of six points.The outer ends of the neck are pierced to take a copper alloy pin on which the rowel is mounted; this pin remains in place. The outer sides of the neck are decorated with shallow, diagonal grooves which give the effect of twisted wire (barley twist). A copper alloy probable spangle of Early Medieval date. It consists of a sheet which is 1.15mm thick, broken on almost all sides. There is an incised line along the edge of the surviving original edge. The plate is decorated with a row of four raised blobs which are hollow on the reverse and look to have been raised by hammering (repousse). Two are along the complete edge, but two appear to curve away form the edge though they are truncated by a break. The metal has a grey brown patina with some brassy colour on the front. Compare number 48.6 on page 245 of McGregor and Bolick.

The space between the front and back plates suggest that the object was attached to something that was about 1.5 - 2mm thick. The metal has a smooth dark green patina.

At one end it is bent into a loop. At the other end it is pointed and sharp. Several bends in the length of the shank make it's original shape impossible to determine. The object has a smooth dark brown patina, missing in places. Its function remains uncertain. It may have been a hook, perhaps to fasten into fabric, or possibly a pick type of toilet article or a pin.

Only 18mm survives in length and it is bent back on itself. The strip is decorated with a lozenge shaped design, and transverse bands of milling. It has a dark green patina. It was probably a Georgian fairground ring.

A copper alloy Roman coin: possibly a contemporary copy of a nummus of Constantius II, dating from AD 355 - 6 (Reece period 18), FEL TEMP REPARATIO type, with the reverse depicting a soldier spearing a fallen horseman. The coin is, however too worn and corroded for a definite identification. It is 12.3mm in diameter and 2.2mm thick. It weighs 1.87gm.

A cast lead alloy artefact, probably a weight, of unknown date. It is conical with a rounded apex and has a small, circular hole vertically through the centre (diameter 4mm). It is 24.2mm in diameter and 17.8mm high. It weighs 53.47gm (1.875oz). The lead has a grey patina, with dents and scratches. A Medieval or Post Medieval date is perhaps most likely.
