On the reverse a single pin lug with some staining from the missing iron pin and an incomplete catchplate are both set parallel with the edge. A concavity lies behind the central boss. A copper alloy lace tag of probably Post Medieval date. It is a cone of sheet copper alloy, 6.2mm in diameter at the open end and tapering to a rounded blunt point. The terminal end is decorated with a globular collar decorated with four circumferential grooves. There are two opposing rivet holes near the open end, and the cone has cracks running across the holes. Instead of a lace tag, this object could also be part of a small brush or the terminal of a slender wooden object such as a pen. Compare WILT-71AAE6 and SWYOR-B1FFB4.

It weighs 17.6gm. The lead has a creamy white patina. Similar whorls are discussed in Walton Rogers (2007). She suggests that this shape and central holes of a diametre of 6-9mm are more likely to be 6th century in date. However, neither feature is a reliable dating technique, so a later date is also possible.

It is 25.4mm in diameter and 7.3mm thick. It weighs 29.06gm. The metal is patiated to a white colour, with a recent gash showing as unpatinated grey metal. Flat discoidal whorls were used from the Iron Age through the Early Medieval period, and probably later too (Walton Rogers 2007). It is an example of a Coppergate Type B1 whorl.

At one end it is bent into a loop. At the other end it is pointed and sharp. Several bends in the length of the shank make it's original shape impossible to determine. The object has a smooth dark brown patina, missing in places. Its function remains uncertain. It may have been a hook, perhaps to fasten into fabric, or possibly a pick type of toilet article or a pin.

A copper alloy probable spangle of Early Medieval date. It consists of a sheet which is 1.15mm thick, broken on almost all sides. There is an incised line along the edge of the surviving original edge. The plate is decorated with a row of four raised blobs which are hollow on the reverse and look to have been raised by hammering (repousse). Two are along the complete edge, but two appear to curve away form the edge though they are truncated by a break. The metal has a grey brown patina with some brassy colour on the front. An incomplete copper alloy terret, of Late Iron Age dating 300 BC - AD 100. Around 25% of the terret is present, the rest presumed lost in antiquity. The profile of the terret is oval in cross section and originally the object would have been D-shaped. There is decoration along the length in a La Tene style possibly a tendril. Similar to WMID-2BCB95, YORYM-4C6C21 and YORYM-C23B67 on the database. The length is 44mm, the width is 15mm thickness 7mm and the weight 8.26g.

Post Medieval cast copper alloy double loop asymmetrical buckle frame with one oval and one trapezoid loop. There are projecting lobed knops at either end of the recessed strap bar. The loops are triangular in section with bevelled outer sides and a flat back and straight inner side. There is a small indent in the centre of the oval loop creating a pin rest. The pin is missing. It is 28.1mm long, 16.1mm wide and 3.1mm thick; it weighs 1.79 grams. Whitehead (2003:91) illustrates a very similar example, no. 564, which he dates to c. AD 1575-1700.

A cast, lead alloy papal bulla of Pope Nicholas IV (AD 1288-92). As usual, the obverse depicts Saints Paul and Peter. The reverse has the Pope's name in three lines, NICO/LAUS/PP IIII. The bulla has a light cream-coloured patina. It is damaged at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock where it has a vertical hole running through the bulla for the attachment string. The faces of the bulla are also cracked along this line. Recent damage has removed the patina and bent the bulla too. It is 36.1mm in diameter and 5.6mm thick. It weighs 39.87gm. It is drilled for a separate iron spindle upon which is the copper alloy pin and stud chape. The stud from the chape is mssing, but was a separate piece rather than being integral. The maker's mark is stamped onto the chape. The buckle has a smooth grey shiny patina. Compare number 663 on page 103 of Whitehead's Buckles. Incomplete probably Middle Saxon to Late Saxon copper alloy strap fitting or buckle plate, a D-sectioned bar with two iron rivets, one through an ovoid terminal and the other before a bifurcation. Between the two the convex front is decorated with moulded chevrons that may constitite a stylised animal head. Beyond the bifurcation both incomplete narrow arms are decorated with three slight moulded swellings. A badly corroded copper alloy annular buckle probably of a type called a disc-on-pin brooch. It has a corroded circular frame with a constriction for the pin. An unusual feature of the frame is two recesses on the reverse of the frame. These would have held a separate narrow bar, which would have divided the circle in half, forming a cross with the pin. A probably Post-Medieval (1600-1900) copper alloy hollow spherical probable button, probably a two-piece construction although the surface of the metal is so pitted the join is not discernable. Two perforations, close to each other, are probably for a separate wire shank. One of these perforations (2.5mm diameter) is at the centre of an oval depression, c.10x4mm. The other perforation measures 2.4mm diameter. The metal is now a dark green in colour and between the pitting, it has a shiny patination. Measures 15.01mm in diameter and weighs 4.76g.

A lead alloy impacted pistol ball of post-Medieval date, AD 1600 - 1850. The ball has been fired and has struck a solid object as it is now a in the shape of a flattened disc with a slightly thicker centre. It is characteristic of balls that have struck a hard flat rough surface at high velocity and can be compared to examples in Harding (2012, Lead Short of the English Civil war: a Radical Study, plate 25). The leading face displays a pattern of radiating striations. It has a light grey patina. In its current configuration it is 25mm long, 22.9mm wide and 3.4mm thick. It weighs 9.76gm.

Copper alloy brooch. Cast dragonesque brooch, Mackreth type DRAG 3.ax.Cast S shaped concavo-convex plate brooch with a cast pin wrapped around the 'neck'. The 'head' has a prominent oval lug adjacent to a bowl shaped hollow which may have held a separate stud. The body has decoration comprising a longitudinally divided pair of pointed ended cells, and is overlain by a central quatrefoil; these features appear apt to retain enamel though no colorant now remains.
