Unusual form of Late Saxon stirrup-strap mount, the upper part comprising a cinquefoil with perforated central upper foil, and each of the five foils with incised rocker arm lines containing tinning, now upstanding from the surrounding decayed surface. The double-concentric lines echo the form of each foil, with an adittional line forming a chevron at the junction between the foils and bordering the rectangular lower part of the mount before the obliquely-angled perforated flange at the base. Iron staple. Wrought Iron U-shaped staple, with a residual point at one end of one arm. The object generally enjoys unusually good survival which indicates that the section of the object was rounded, though where corrosion has caused flakes of iron to spall away it might be mistaken for a squared section. A fragment of a rowel spur probably dating from the Post Medieval period, probably the 17th century. It consists of two sections of a divided, copper alloy neck and a rowel of six points.The outer ends of the neck are pierced to take a copper alloy pin on which the rowel is mounted; this pin remains in place. The outer sides of the neck are decorated with shallow, diagonal grooves which give the effect of twisted wire (barley twist). A cast lead alloy,biconvex spindle whorl, probably of late medieval or early post-medieval date, AD 1400 - 1600. It is pierced with a central, circular hole (9mm diameter), in one side of which is a rectangular concavity. One face is decorated with a pattern of random pellets, the other side is very worn but has traces of raised lines in a lattice pattern. It is 25.6mm in diameter and 9.4mm thick. It weighs 28.12gm. Decorated whorls are usually attributed to the 15th or 16th century.

A cast lead alloy spindle whorl of unknown date. It is circular and flat (discoidal), without any decoration, and has a central, circular hole of 8mm diameter. It is 25.4mm in diameter and 7.3mm thick. It weighs 29.06gm. The metal is patiated to a white colour, with a recent gash showing as unpatinated grey metal. Flat discoidal whorls were used from the Iron Age through the Early Medieval period, and probably later too (Walton Rogers 2007). It is an example of a Coppergate Type B1 whorl.

A cast lead alloy spindle whorl of possible Early Medieval date, about AD 500 - 600. It is conical and has a central, circular hole of 6mm diameter. It is 19.7mm in diameter and 10.4mm high. It weighs 17.6gm. The lead has a creamy white patina. Similar whorls are discussed in Walton Rogers (2007). She suggests that this shape and central holes of a diametre of 6-9mm are more likely to be 6th century in date. However, neither feature is a reliable dating technique, so a later date is also possible.

Copper alloy spearhead fragment. Cast blade of a spearhead of ogival section with a pronounced mid rib extending almost to the extreme tip (which is lost). The object is broken as the blade narrows to approach a socket (lost), where it is already of hollow construction. The cutting edges of the blade are abraded, more so on one side than the other, and probably relatively recently. Suggested date: Middle to Late Bronze Age, 1600-800 BC. Length: 78.7mm, Width: 18.7mm, Thickness (mid rib): 8.2mm, Thickness (at break near socket): 1.9mm, Weight: 21.81gms.

A copper alloy probable spangle of Early Medieval date. It consists of a sheet which is 1.15mm thick, broken on almost all sides. There is an incised line along the edge of the surviving original edge. The plate is decorated with a row of four raised blobs which are hollow on the reverse and look to have been raised by hammering (repousse). Two are along the complete edge, but two appear to curve away form the edge though they are truncated by a break. The metal has a grey brown patina with some brassy colour on the front. Compare number 48.6 on page 245 of McGregor and Bolick.

A lead alloy impacted pistol ball of post-Medieval date, AD 1600 - 1850. The ball has been fired and has struck a solid object as it is now a in the shape of a flattened disc with a slightly thicker centre. It is characteristic of balls that have struck a hard flat rough surface at high velocity and can be compared to examples in Harding (2012, Lead Short of the English Civil war: a Radical Study, plate 25). The leading face displays a pattern of radiating striations. It has a light grey patina. In its current configuration it is 25mm long, 22.9mm wide and 3.4mm thick. It weighs 9.76gm.

Brown semi-translucent flint of good quality with patch of cortex. Scraper; flake with three long flake removal scars on its dorsal side and with a prominent bulb of percussion on the ventral aspect. Pressure flaked retouch occurs around the curved end, and at a deep notch about half way along one side, in both cases executed from the dorsal aspect. Suggested date: Early Neolithic, 4000-3500 BC. Copper alloy probable razor. Cast U-shaped plate with a cutting edge which runs along one long edge and continuing along the short straight side; the other long side and the U shaped end are flattened. The section is of extremely flattened lentoid form, a point which is only apparent if it is viewed against a straight edge.This object was initially considered as a sword blade fragment, but it lacks any convincing strengthening of the middle part of the blade, and a single sided form would be unusual for a rapier.
