A slightly clipped medieval silver penny of Richard II (1377-1399). Type 1b or local dies Group A (possibly North 1329b or 1330a), possibly muled with Type 1a. Initial mark: unclear, dating to c. 1387-1396. Mint of York. North (1975, 49). The coin measures 18.6 mm in diameter, 0.62 mm in thickness and weighs 1.02 g. It is difficult to distinguish clipping from somewhat off centre striking, especially on the obverse.
