A copper alloy moutn or stud, probably of Post Medieval to Modern date, but possibly Early Medieval. It consists of a circular sheet which is 0.5mm thick, decorated with three wide grooves crossing the the centre so forming a star. A central copper alloy rivet attaches the stud to a smaller, circular copper alloy rove or back plate. The space between the front and back plates suggest that the object was attached to something that was about 1.5 - 2mm thick. The metal has a smooth dark green patina.
