The ball has been fired and has struck a solid object as it is now a in the shape of a flattened disc with a slightly thicker centre. It is characteristic of balls that have struck a hard flat rough surface at high velocity and can be compared to examples in Harding (2012, Lead Short of the English Civil war: a Radical Study, plate 25). The leading face displays a pattern of radiating striations. It has a light grey patina. In its current configuration it is 25mm long, 22.9mm wide and 3.4mm thick. It weighs 9.76gm.
