Iron file. Wrought iron whittle tanged tool of rectangular section, tapering towards a blunt or broken end at one end, and a pyramidal terminal to its tang at the other. The object is shouldered where it meets the tang, which presumably engaged a wooden handle. Faint traces of diagonal grooves on the four flat faces suggest the identification offered. The extensive survival of metal argues a relatively recent date. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1650-1850. Length: 132.5mm, Width: 13.1mm, Thickness: 9.4mm, Weight: 52.63gms.
