A copper alloy unidentified object, perhaps a hook, probably of Post Medieval to Modern date, but possibly Early Medieval. It consists of a length of circular sectioned wire, nearly 60mm long. At one end it is bent into a loop. At the other end it is pointed and sharp. Several bends in the length of the shank make it's original shape impossible to determine. The object has a smooth dark brown patina, missing in places. Its function remains uncertain. It may have been a hook, perhaps to fasten into fabric, or possibly a pick type of toilet article or a pin.

A cast copper alloy Roman brooch, dating from AD 100 - 400. It is a variant of the knee brooch type with a plate like head (the edges are broken so the original shape in unknown), a short bow and a fantail foot. Head, bow and foot are all of rectangular section. There is no decoration. On the underside of the head are two semi-circular lugs. These are pierced to take the pin bar. The remains of a ferrous pin bar can be seen in both of the lugs; the pin and bar itself is missing. A copper alloy Roman coin: possibly a contemporary copy of a nummus of Constantius II, dating from AD 355 - 6 (Reece period 18), FEL TEMP REPARATIO type, with the reverse depicting a soldier spearing a fallen horseman. The coin is, however too worn and corroded for a definite identification. It is 12.3mm in diameter and 2.2mm thick. It weighs 1.87gm.

a copper alloy shoe buckle with a maker's mark reading: "W / (W)OT(F)" on the chape. It dates from about AD 1690 - 1720. The frame is rectangular in plan and curved in profile. It is drilled for a separate iron spindle upon which is the copper alloy pin and stud chape. The stud from the chape is mssing, but was a separate piece rather than being integral. The maker's mark is stamped onto the chape. The buckle has a smooth grey shiny patina. Compare number 663 on page 103 of Whitehead's Buckles. This appears to be the first example of this maker on the database.

A copper alloy single looped rectangular buckle dating from AD 1500 - 1650. The frame has an expanded outer edge decorated with a groove along the outmost edge. The sides are half round in section and baluster shaped. The sides project beyond the bar to form lobed feet. An iron pin survives wrapped round the bar. The frame has a smooth dark green patina. Compare number 152 on page 28 of Whitehead's Buckles.

A fragment of a rowel spur probably dating from the Post Medieval period, probably the 17th century. It consists of two sections of a divided, copper alloy neck and a rowel of six points.The outer ends of the neck are pierced to take a copper alloy pin on which the rowel is mounted; this pin remains in place. The outer sides of the neck are decorated with shallow, diagonal grooves which give the effect of twisted wire (barley twist). A copper alloy mount or stud, probably of Post Medieval to Modern date, but possibly Early Medieval. It consists of a circular sheet which is 0.5mm thick, decorated with three wide grooves crossing the the centre so forming a star. A central copper alloy rivet attaches the stud to a smaller, circular copper alloy rove or back plate. The space between the front and back plates suggest that the object was attached to something that was about 1.5 - 2mm thick. The metal has a smooth dark green patina.

A fragment of a copper alloy Post Medieval or Modern probable finger ring. The ring is made from a strip of copper alloy which is 4.67mm wide and 0.88mm thick. Only 18mm survives in length and it is bent back on itself. The strip is decorated with a lozenge shaped design, and transverse bands of milling. It has a dark green patina. It was probably a Georgian fairground ring.

A copper alloy lace tag of probably Post Medieval date. It is a cone of sheet copper alloy, 6.2mm in diameter at the open end and tapering to a rounded blunt point. The terminal end is decorated with a globular collar decorated with four circumferential grooves. There are two opposing rivet holes near the open end, and the cone has cracks running across the holes. Instead of a lace tag, this object could also be part of a small brush or the terminal of a slender wooden object such as a pen. Compare WILT-71AAE6 and SWYOR-B1FFB4.

An incomplete Medieval to post-Medieval cast copper-alloy cooking vessel leg dating from about AD 1250-1650. This leg is oval in cross-section and is mis-cast, with a deep concavity in the wide end, and a hole and cavity in the other end which is rounded and tapered. It has a light green and brown coloured patina. Compare IOW-FA6317 which is a larger example of similar style.

A complete cast copper alloy double looped oval buckle frame, of late Medieval to Post Medieval date, about AD 1400 to 1600. The outer edegs of the loops are expanded and decorated with transverse grooves giving a ridged effect. The central bar is thinner and worn in the centre. A badly corroded copper alloy annular buckle probably of a type called a disc-on-pin brooch. It has a corroded circular frame with a constriction for the pin. An unusual feature of the frame is two recesses on the reverse of the frame. These would have held a separate narrow bar, which would have divided the circle in half, forming a cross with the pin. A copper alloy pin of possible Medieval date. It has a discoidal head with a convex top and a flat base. The shaft is 0.8mm in diameter and only 10mm survives. The original length is impossible to judge. The pin is similar to some in Egan and Pritchard's Dress Accessories, but an earlier or later date cannot be ruled out. The function of this pin is also unknown.

A copper alloy probable spangle of Early Medieval date. It consists of a sheet which is 1.15mm thick, broken on almost all sides. There is an incised line along the edge of the surviving original edge. The plate is decorated with a row of four raised blobs which are hollow on the reverse and look to have been raised by hammering (repousse). Two are along the complete edge, but two appear to curve away form the edge though they are truncated by a break. The metal has a grey brown patina with some brassy colour on the front. Compare number 48.6 on page 245 of McGregor and Bolick.
