A fragment of a post-Medieval silver-gilt finger-ring (1500-1650). Treasure case no. 2014 T219.
The outer face of the plain hoop is convex and the flat inner face is inscribed: [?] CHANGE with serifed capitals. The N has a reversed bar.
Gilding has survived on the inner face with small patches on the outer face. The breaks appear to be old.
25.7mm (length); 5.5mm (width); 1.0mm (thickness). Weight: 1.16g.
The full inscription may have been 'NEVER TO CHANGE', or 'NO CHANGE TILL DEATH', see British Museum examples: 1961,1202.48; AF.1385
