Object type: UNIDENTIFIED OBJECT
Broad period: IRON AGE
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Incomplete Iron Age copper alloy object: of three round-sectioned joining arms only one is complete. It curves to a globular terminal which is decorated with moulded knobs, grooves and two small blind holes. Of the other two arms one is little more than a stump (perhaps newly broken) while the other has begun to curve before the old break. On one face of the junction there are strong ribbed mouldings, some decorated with transverse grooves, and on the other a large round blind hole or socket that might once have held a boss in another material. Scuffing has removed the patinated surfa…

Record ID: LANCUM-C43277
Object type: UNIDENTIFIED OBJECT
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Cumbria
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Cast copper alloy unidentified object dating from the post-medieval or modern period, that is c. 1500-1900. The object is very small and appears complete. There are no obvious breaks or damage. It is of roughly circular/globular shape with four circular disc-shaped recessed mouldings on the top and at the slightly pointy front. It looks like a finial or decorative mount but it is difficult to imagine how it would have been attached to another object to function as a decorative attachment.

Record ID: LANCUM-C40605
Object type: UNIDENTIFIED OBJECT
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Cumbria
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Cast copper alloy unidentified object possibly dating from post-medieval or early modern period that is from c. 1500-1900. The artefact appears complete and functional rather than ornament. IT is flat and roughly fish-shaped, with a flat, even obverse and reverse and a three-dimensionally formed 'tail'. The 'tail' is decorated with an incised circle motif which looks decorative and may have been visible. It has two perforations - a larger incomplete one and a smaller complete one above. It has been suggested that it might be a window latch or possible part of a clockwork mechanism.
