An incomplete post-Medieval tin alloy (pewter) buckle (c. 1660 -c. 1720). The pin and chape are missing. The frame is oval and has fragments of an iron spindle surviving within each drilled hole. At the front, above each drilled hole, there is a four faced pyramidal knop. The remainder of the front face is decorated with evenly spaced transverse grooves. The underside is flat and bevelled on the inside. Length: 27.86mm; width: 22.72mm; thickness: 4.42mm. Weight: 4.71g. Incomplete copper alloy rectangular mount, possibly from a horse harness. Zoomorphic panel with projecting tab or flange at surviving short edge. The panel is decorated in Style I animal ornament with an empty probably central cell, across which is a transverse break. Some gilding survives. Around the edge of the panel are three sides of a border 1.5mm wide. Fragments of solder on the reverse. Length 24mm, width 15mm, 3mm at thickest point. Dates to the sixth century.
