Curator's Report for 2014 T173, Post Medieval silver thimble fragment
Date: 1786-1850 AD
Description: Fragment of a silver thimble bearing an elaborate architectural design. The fragment consists of a portion of the base, now flattened. The design bears a dome supported by columns, flanked by two smaller, domed minarets. The architecture is similar to the front of Brighton Pavilion.
Dimensions: Weight - 0.51g, length - 11.8mm, width - 14.1mm, thickness - 0.7mm.

An incomplete cast pewter (white metal) medal commemorating 300 years since the death of Shakespeare, dating it to 1916. Approximately 85% of the coin survives as a result of old breaks. The medal would have originally been circular in plan and rectangular in section. The edges of the medal are now very ragged. One side of the medal shows a bare headed bust left, presumably a portrait of Shakespeare, within a roped border. The inscription reads WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE.
