Object type: FIGURINE
Broad period: ROMAN
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Published Find published
Fragment of a copper alloy left arm from a figurine of Roman date. The modelling is of an excellent standard, the arm being bent at the elbow and the forearm extended forwards and upwards. The fingers are gently curled and give the impression that the hand may originally have held something, perhaps a spear. Given the presence of only this one limb, assiging an identity to the subject is impossible. The form of the arm suggests a male was intended.

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Incomplete outer sheet plate from a medieval copper alloy composite strap end of circular form, probably a rear plate. On one face there is a wide median band of grey solder (which does not bear direct evidence of a forked scaper). A more normal but much thinner amount of solder is to be seen on the other face close to the edge. Perhaps the object was partailly dismantled an the plate reversed, or perhaps a secondary plate was added. Two secondary rivet holes are further evidence for repair. Width 32.5mm.
