Part of Late Iron Age to Early Roman rotary quern. The surviving piece represents approximately one third of the originally ring-shaped upper stone of classic 'bee-hive' form. The outer sides angle inwards, towards the top. The inverted-conical hopper is centrally located and there is also a conical handle socket which extends horizontally through the stone, from the outer face to just short of the hopper.
