A complete post-Medieval lead or lead-alloy whirligig or buzz disc/wheel of possible 17th to 18th century date.
The toy is sub-circular in plan and sub-rectangular in cross-section. It consists of a disc with a serrated outer edge and two string holes at the centre. The fifteen teeth (or cogs) have been crudely made, possibly by chopping or shearing and their outer faces appear to have been flattened. The object has an even grey patina with numerous scratches on both faces.
Height: 39.04mm; width: 41.20mm; thickness: 8.08mm; diameter of holes: c. 3.4mm. Weight: 79.85g.
