TREASURE CASE : 2014 T96. A complete gold finger ring of uncertain date. The finger ring is comprised of a plain circular band with pointed ovate section. The hoop has been distorted as a result of deposition and a slight compression is present to one side. The finger ring is undecorated and appears crudely made. Date: Uncertain Dimensions: Diameter: 22.2mm; Width: 5.4mm; Thickness: 1.1mm; Weight: 4.6g. Discussion: There is no evidence to securely date this ring, therefore as it is undiagnostic in nature it fall outside the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.

A cast copper alloy of uncertain date and function. The object is in the form of a fish and flat however it is unclear if the object is complete or if each end terminates with an ancient break. Each end is slightly bent and sharp. There are no rivets or forms of attachment visible. The outer face is possibly decorated with punched annulets however pitted corrosion obscures the detail. Traces of gilding are visible on each face. The object has a dark brown patina.

This may be from the base of a vessel, however it bears no trace of sooting and the metal is paler than other medieval cauldron fragments from the site. Suggested date: Unknown, 40-1400. Length: 24.1mm, Width: 24mm, Thickness: 3.6mm, Weight: 8.08gms.

A complete copper alloy button and looped fastener, of Late Iron Age to Early Roman dating (100 BC to c. 150 AD). The front of the button and loop fastener is trefoil shaped. The head is formed by a number of beads: there are three larger beads in a rectangular formation with a smaller bead in the centre. The integral cast shank (loop) is attached in the centre of the rear of the head and offset at approximately 90° to the plain of the head before turning at a 90° right angle so that the loop would project in the same plain as the button head. A complete copper alloy strap fitting or strap slide, of Early Roman dating (1st to 3rd Century AD). The 'strap-slide' has a square-headed and thin platform/ head with slightly irregular and uneven edges. A thin inscribed line running around the edge is the only decoration on the front of the slide. Stratchmarks are present on the front. The underside of this platform is flat and undecorated. There is a large rectangular loop at the back of the artefact, where the strap would have originally passed through. This loop is undecorated and appears to be integral. It measures 22.6 mm

The vessel was wheel thrown. The outer surface is decorated with parralel grooves which would have circles the entire vessel. It measures 42.10mm long, 39.45mm wide and 9.50mm thick. It weighs 16.35g.

A cast copper alloy pin dating to the Roman period, (AD 43-410). The object can be classified as Cool's group 1, sub group C. It has a spherical head which measures 10.15mm in diameter. The shank is circular in cross-section and measures 3.37mm in diameter. The shank is incomplete breaking 6.21mm below the head. The shank is slightly bent but does not taper. The object has a dark brown patina and has patches of light green corrosion on the head. Cool notes pins of sub group C are found widely scattered throughout southern Britain and were used throughout the Roman period, (1990), p151.
