Copper alloy figurine depicting a helmeted and otherwise nude Mars. The style is what might be termed distinctly unclassical, the posture being stiff and the bodily proportions unrealistic. The limbs are crudely produced, arms of unequal size depending from very wide shoulders whilst the legs are unnaturally short. Incomplete medieval copper alloy buckle, oval frame with straight 'ornate' outside edge with multiple transverse grooves, convex sides and offset narrowed bar, pin missing. Broken convex-sided buckle plate with pin slot and recesses for frame, one loop and attachment-end missing, two copper alloy rivets, face with fine addorsed rocker-arm field outlining the remains of two surviving foils. Length of frame 14mm. Width of frame 21mm. Surviving length of plate 44.5mm. Surviving width of plate 16mm. See Egan and Pritchard 1991, fig.44. c.1350-c.1450.
