Iron Age to Roman (-100 to 200) cosmetic mortar: The copper alloy cosmetic mortar which remains is an end-loop. The end-loop in profile is a sub-drop shape with a serif on the underside and at the terminal. The mortar is broken just after the loop, as it starts with the crescentic bow. The break is not recent. The upper face of this portion of the mortar has wide curved hollow. The surface of the mortar has an incomplete light grey/green patina. An incomplete copper alloy La Tene I brooch of Iron Age date. The brooch is cast in one piece though the spring and pin have been lost to an old break. The bow is arched with a circular section and is decorated on the front with a double banded ladder design. Vertically aligned incised ring decoration is also present to either side of the bow. A cast copper alloy dumbell toggle dating from the late Iron Age or early Roman period (about 100 BC - 200 AD). The toggle is comprised of two semi-spherical collared knobs joined by a reel shaped element in the centre and is all one piece. There is no evidence of an attachment loop. The toggle has a dark brown patina, bright green where chipped. Similar examples are PAS record IDs: YORYM-825327 and SWYOR-ADF674.
