A complete cast copper-alloy Roman zoomorphic mount, probably from the rim of a metal vessel. The solid-cast mount takes the form of a seated or swimming bird resembling a stylised duck. The body is teardrop-shaped in plan and of triangular section, with a central ridge extending longitudinally down the upper surface. The neck extends upwards from the wider end of the body, forming an angle of nearly 90 degrees. Like the body, the neck also has an angular appearance and tapers to a rounded, sub-oval head. The remains of the toilet object consist of a flat sheet of copper alloy which has a semi-circular suspension loop with a small circular perforation running perpendicular to the cleaner blade; the blade itself has shallow rounded shoulders, tapering to a narrowed, possibly pointed end, which is missing. An incomplete Roman (AD 43-80) copper alloy Colchester-derivative with two pierced lugs brooch, missing its spring mechanism and pin. It measures 46.07mm in length and weighs 4.70g. The wings are D-shaped in cross-section (being flat to the reverse) and span 15.31mm. One wing is shorter than the other (c.7mm to 5mm) although both have a transverse groove close to the end of the wing, suggesting the shorter hasn't suffered any damage to its length. Reverse type unclear, probably VICTORIA AVG, depicting Victory running left, holding wreath in right hand and palm against left shoulder in left hand, kicking bound and seated captive to left with right foot. The second wing is not visible and all detail is composed in sketchier style (Cunetio Victory Reverse Type 9b). Mint unknown. The remains of the brooch consist of a trefoil-shaped plate with three equal recessed ring-and-dot cells with a central pellet on the outer surface.
