A copper alloy Colchester derivative type Roman brooch with missing pin and spring. At the head of the brooch is the semicircular-sectioned wings, the edges of which are damaged and very worn. The upper end of the bow has the looped remnant of the rearward facing hook. The bow is D-shaped in section with a central longitudinal ridge. The triangular catch-plate is broken at the fold. Circa 43-100 AD. Length 43mm, width 21mm, weight 5.72g.

A complete Medieval copper-alloy rotary key (1150-1400). This key consists of three elements, the bow or handle, shank and bit. The bow is circular in plan, bevelled on the inside and flat on both faces. It has a diameter of 16.11mm and is 3.06mm thick. There is no collar between the bow and the shank. The shank, which does not project beyond the end of the bit, is hollow and is circular in cross-section with an outer diameter of 5.75mm. Below the rim is a horizontal row of circular dimples and one incised finger-nail impression in an arc above one dimple. Copper alloy ceitil of Alfonso V (1438-1481), John II (1481-1495) or Manuel I (1495-1521) of Portugal, missing its legends but likely to be the Lisbon mint. A ceitil is one-sixth of a real. The obverse depicts a three-towered castle above rows of waves and the reverse a square-topped shield bearing the arms of Portugal, with worn annulets above and either side of the shield which suggests it is more likely a ceitil of John II or Manuel I. Grierson (1991) illustrates a similar ceitil of Alfonso V of Portugal, minted in Lisbon, on page 191, Fig.419.

The reverse is concave, with a single separate rivet and circular rove. Middle or Late Saxon copper alloy Trewhiddle style strap-end, Thomas' Class A, Type 1. Transverse breaks at both ends. The attachment end is broken across two rectangular fields originally containing inlay but none now survives. Beyond this the incomplete animal head terminal has oval ears with a triangular field between, which retains niello inlay. The start of the snout contains another niello field before terminating in an old transverse break. The surviving details are very worn. Surviving length 23mm. Maximum surviving width 13.6mm. Circa 9th century AD.
