Copper alloy ceitil of Alfonso V (1438-1481), John II (1481-1495) or Manuel I (1495-1521) of Portugal, missing its legends but likely to be the Lisbon mint. A ceitil is one-sixth of a real. The obverse depicts a three-towered castle above rows of waves and the reverse a square-topped shield bearing the arms of Portugal, with worn annulets above and either side of the shield which suggests it is more likely a ceitil of John II or Manuel I. Grierson (1991) illustrates a similar ceitil of Alfonso V of Portugal, minted in Lisbon, on page 191, Fig.419.
