Object type: BUCKLE
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Norfolk
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Fragment of a medieval copper alloy probable buckle plate, part of the fold, with both sides and the inside edge of the front part, and almost all of the rear part missing. Parts of two apertures suggest that the object may have been similar to an example from Oxborough, Norfolk (HER 56912, NMS-8003A2). There is, however, no pin slot, which suggests that there may have been more than three apertures. Between the surviving two there are three engraved grooves. Extant dimensions 18 x 18mm. c.1150 - c.1225.
