An incomplete copper alloy late-Early Medieval to Medieval (c.AD 1000-1100) scabbard fitting, possibly a chape, missing the side and base bars.The fitting is zoomorphic, possibly representing a saddled horse or a winged animal (perhaps a mythical creature like a griffin) in profile. It is formed from a single plate that has been folded in half. The animal's tail/rear is at the bend. The ends of the plate have been riveted together and are in the shape of the animal's head. A fragment of a copper alloy Roman (AD 43-100) Colchester derivative brooch missing its spring, pin and most of the length of its bow. Overall it measures 8.75mm long, 23.95mm wide and 16.45mm thick. It weighs 4.42g. The wings are intact, with a total wingspan of 23.95mm. They are semi-circular in section measuring 5.15mm x 2.75mm thick. Separating the wings is a sub-rectangular lug projecting out from the back of the brooch, with a perforation in it for the spring to fit into. An incomplete copper alloy Iron Age to Roman (AD 25-70) strip bow brooch, broken in two and missing one of its wings, the pin and the curl of the catchplate. It has been significantly bent out of shape so that the front is now the inner face of a curve. The larger piece, comprising the wing and most of the bow, measures 28.15mm long, 11.45mm wide and 12.20mm thick overall, weighing 1.67g.
