Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Warwickshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
The remains of a copper alloy strap end dating to the medieval period. The strap end comprises the central spacer plate which would have sat between two thin copper alloy face-plates. The spacer appears broken as there is no sign of rivet holes or attachment areas at its back end. The opposing end of the spacer plate terminates with a narrowing into a neck-like projection which falres slightly to terminate in a trefoil. There are file marks over both surfaces of the spacer plate. Similar strap end are paralleled in Egan and Pritchard (2004) and are dated to the 14th century AD.
