A cast copper-alloy seal matrix of Medieval date. It has a flat oval die with hexagonally faceted conical terminal that tapers to flattened lozenge shaped suspension loop with transverse collar, triangular top edge and central circular aperture. The die carries a central motif comprising an eagle displayed with head left, within an inner circle. This is surrounded by a legend reading *IE SV VPRIVE, presumably intended to read IE SV PRIVE ('I am private'). It measures 18.93mm in height, 18.61mm in diameter, and 6.09g in weight. A copper-alloy personal seal matrix of Medieval date. The circular printing face bears an engraved 'Agnus dei' image, comprising a lamb standing right (left, when printed), holding a cross and flag. When printed, the legend extends clockwise from 12 o'clock and reads '+ECCE AGNVS DEI' ('Behold the Lamb of God'). Medieval seal matrix (14th century): The copper alloy matrix is a pyramid type, whose base is circular in plan. The reverse of the matrix has a hexagonal sectioned stem which terminates with an oval terminal which has a circular perforation. Below the terminal there is an integral collar. The base of the matrix has a legend around the edge and a central device. The device is possibly an animal, but this is far from certain. The legend is illegible.
