Medieval copper alloy buckle plate. D-shaped, recssed for (missing) frame, slot for (missing) pin, broken at the fold, backplate missing, with three rivet holes one of which is blocked by iron corrosion. Decoration comprises a single engraved line border, with two longitudinal engraved lines either side of the pin slot, 5 or 6 lonitudinal lines within a D-shaped field behind the pin-slot and gilding. Measuring 27 x 32mm. For similar examples see NMS-78C9B1, NMS-5D2021 and NMS-52BC60. 1150 - 1300.

An incomplete cast copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth Group 4, flat wing ends type, West Midlands), cf. Mackreth 2011, 4.b. no. 1901, Plate 46, dating to the Roman period, circa AD80-120. The head of the brooch including a wing and a spring hook survive. The brooch was damaged in antiquity. The surviving wing has a partially surviving, perforated wing cap. Ridges are present at the junction between the bow and the wings. The face of the wing is undecorated. It has a flat oval die with hexagonally faceted conical terminal that tapers to flattened lozenge shaped suspension loop with transverse collar, triangular top edge and central circular aperture. The die carries a central motif comprising an eagle displayed with head left, within an inner circle. A very worn fragment of a copper-alloy Roman gem-set finger ring. The fragment consists of part of the sub-oval bezel and shoulder. The break across the bevel of the ring reveals the cross-section of the missing gem, with a flat base and slightly curved sides. There is no evidence for other material, such as adhesive, in the setting. The metal is a mid green colour. The fragment is 14.2mm in length, 10.96mm wide, 2.8mm thick and weighs 1.43g. A cast copper-alloy uniface coin weight of later Medieval to Post-Medieval date. It is circular in form and on the obverse face depicts St. Michael spearing a dragon right. The reverse is flat and undecorated. It measures 12.36mm in diameter, 2.62mm in thickness and 2.29g (35.2 grains) in weight. This is a copper-alloy coin weight for a half angel of later Medieval to early Post-Medieval date, falling just below the standard weight of 40 grains (Withers and Withers, 1995: pp. 21, 68). It dates to c.1464-1604 AD.

A cast copper-alloy asymmetrical double-looped buckle frame of probable Medieval date. It has one large oval shaped loop that is D-shaped in section with flat back and slightly expanded outer edge. This is separated from a smaller rectangular loop by an integral central bar, both of which are square in section.
