Lead alloy plate fragment. Sherd from the rim of a concavo-convex plate, dish or lid., probably lathe finished, of estimated diameter 90mm. A circumferential rib follows the rim close to the edge on both sides. The object is broken at the position of a thicker circumferential rib which stands proud of the convex side only, close to the middle of the object, and also at both sides. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1650-1800. Length: 35mm, Width: 26.8mm, Thickness:1.5mm, Weight: 8.19gms.

Copper alloy with enamel brooch. Hinged Colchester derivative, Mackreth Type CD H 9.d. Tubular wings clenched behind retaining an axis bar for a hinged pin, met by a tapering D section bow with three rectangular cut outs below its crest; the uppermost retaining dark blue enamel. The lower bow tapers towards a moulded protruding rounded foot with the stub of an unpierced catch plate behind it. Translucent brown flint of high quality leaf shaped arrowhead. A round based and ogival pointed thin flake with pressure flaked retouch executed from both sides around four fifths of its edge, more extensively on the dorsal side. Finer work produced a continuous finely serrated edge to the remainder, towards the point on one side. In profile the object is slightly curved. Suggested date: Early Neolithic, 4000-3500 BC. Copper alloy mount. Cast concavo-convex mount comprising a smiling human mask in a hat or hood, with a backward pointing blunt hook rising behind it. Below the mask a miniature torso is represented with a pair of crooked ball-ended arms springing from it, and a circular loop, probably for an attachment rivet, below. Copper alloy and iron spherical bell. Cast one piece spherical bell with tall rectangular suspension loop. There are a pair of blow holes in the upper hemisphere, and a pair of sounding holes linked by a slot in the lower. A substantial circumferential rib separates the hemispheres, and the lower bears orn traces of an incised scheme of radial or petalled decoration. An iron clapper remains within the bell, which is torn between adjacent sounding and blow holes on one side. The form of the loop places this object later in the sequence of forms. Copper alloy bracelet fragment. Cast lentoid section segment from a bracelet of estimated internal diameter 80mm, tapering markedly in width from one end to the other. Decoration of its outer side comprises three groups of three or four incised parallel lines which meet each other at right angles to define triangular fields filled by haphazardly executed rows of small (length 1.6mm) oval punch marks. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1650. Length: 37.1mm, Width: 15.2mm, Thickness: 3.8mm, Weight: 7.61gms.

Patinated overall. The mould was positioned at an angle to judge from the canted sides of the casting. The object is considered of possibly Roman date, following the kind advice of Helen Geake. The neck of the flask is marked by a horizontal double rib on both sides. Below this, one side bears the faint traces of a flower motif rendered by intersecting compass arcs. Lead and glass Weight. Cast lead plano-convex domed weight with three transparent colourless glass beads embedded in its upper surface. Weights with embedded objects are an Early Medieval form. The mass of this example is equivalent to one slightly overweight uncia or Roman ounce (of 27.3gms), and the Middle Saxon use of Roman weights and measures after the Conversion would seem to provide the most appropriate context for its use.
