Silver coin. Penny of Edward II (1307-1327), probably Canterbury mint. The finder kindly identifies the coin as a Class 11b/11c mule, by the distinctive letter "A" on the reverse, peculiar to this Class. The lettering on the obverse (particularly angular backed "C") helps confirm this well recorded mule variety. The North ref is 1062/1 and the date c1310-1314.
Obverse description: Facing bust with tall bifoliate crown, drapery of angled wedges. Initial cross pattee.
Obverse inscription: +EDWA R AN[--]B
Reverse description: Long cross, three pellets in each angle.
