Copper alloy mount, presumably from furniture, in the form of a draped youthful male wearing a wreath of vine leaves and a winged cap, a petasos. The youth's identity is thus implied to be a syncretism of Bacchus and Mercury, the former by the vine leaves, the latter by the petasos. This is unusual to say the least; images of Mercury are common in the North-western provinces of the Roman empire and Bacchus also appears but to see the attributes of both combined is remarkable.
