A large rim sherd from an early medieval vessel of a hard, coarse, sandy fabric. The rim is short and slightly everted in profile. The fabric is fairly hard and granular, with abudant angular quartz (<1mm) and fine mica. The sherd is highly abraded. Both surfaces and core are black in colour. An Early Post-Medieval (1550-1650) copper alloy double-oval buckle frame with ornate outside edge, complete with pin. It measures 49.36x21.66mm (internal loops c.15x14mm) and weighs 8.29g. The buckle has a triangular knop at the centre of each outside edge. One has a central groove for the pin, the other a decorative V-shaped groove flanking its triangular profile. The pin is D-shaped in cross-section (being flat to the reverse) and bent, narrowing from 4.5mm at the axis bar to c.1mm at the tip, which is curved to lie on the grooved triangular projection. An incomplete copper alloy key of probable Medieval date, in two pieces. One of these has a circular openwork handle, consisting of a ring with two bars crossing in the centre. Each bar is decorated on both sides with a deep groove running its length. There is a break in the ring on the side opposite the shank and almost 1/4 is missing. Below this is a wide collar followed by two thin collars from which the tubular shank extends. Copper alloy with enamel, stud. Cast discoid plate with a tapered shank of length 6.5mm set centrally on the reverse. The display face bears, described from the centre outwards, a central circular cell with whitish traces within, a circular cell with four quadrants of [now] orange enamel separated by relict patches of a dark brown or black enamel in a cruciform arrangement, and an outer register of twelve alternating lighter and darker spokes. The outer edge of the stud is billeted or milled. Suggested date: Roman, 100-300. Diameter: 19.5mm, Thickness (plate): 2.3mm, Weight: 3.68gms.

A rim sherd from a Medieval vessel. The fabric is fairly soft, with sparse angular quartz (<1mm), occasional grey and brown grog (<3mm) and many oval voids (<3mm). The rim is highly everted with a ridge along the upper edge, creating a square profile. It expands slightly at one end, presumably towards a spout or handle. The sherd is highly abraded. Both surfaces are light reddish-brown in colour, whilst the inner core is grey. Length: 58.9mm, width: 38.9mm, thickness: 26.0mm, weight: 51.18g

A sherd from a late Medieval purple ware vessel. The fabric is extremely hard and tempered with plentiful well sorted rounded quartz (<1mm), large shelly fragments (<4mm) and occasional fine mica. Both surfaces are light red-brown in colour, the inner margins are slightly lighter brown, whilst the inner core is dark grey. A muled silver shilling of Charles I (AD 1625-1649), worn and slightly bent with a small area of one edge missing. Bust Group E, with inner circles. The obverse tun initial mark dates the coin to AD 1636-38, while the reverse mark appears to be either a bell (AD 1634-35) or possibly a plume, similar to those of Shrewsbury and dating to AD 1642.
