A worn but complete lead alloy token or tally, probably dating to the late medieval or early post-medieval period. The token is bifaced, bearing an unclear design on the obverse, possibly of a bird's head with other designs surrounding it, while an externally spoked wheel with dots within and without decorates the reverse. The token is good quality and was made in a mould. The alloy is more petwer-like than most tokens of the post-medieval period, and this along with the quality and design suggests that it may be earlier, possibly 15th or 16th century.

A complete and worn post-Medieval cast lead or lead-alloy circular double-sided token (c. 1500-c. 1850). Powell Type 2. The token has raised designs: Initial letters E I on one side and W ?T on the other side. It is pale buff. Diameter: 21.4mm. Weight: 4.52g. Lead tokens had a wide variety of potential uses such as tallies, gaming pieces, tickets, weights, etc. and are believed to have been locally produced; they are therefore difficult to date precisely. Those carrying initials are generally deemed to be post-Medieval in date (1500-1850), those which seem to mimic Medieva…
