A copper-alloy Aesica brooch, dating from Early Roman period. The brooch comprises two joined elements: the head and bow form the upper piece, with an attached plate below. The wings have a flat underside and there are the remains of a perforated cap at either end, which would have held in place the now-missing axis bar and spring coils. Part of a rearward lug also curves backwards from the top of the head and would have secured an external chord. The top of the flat-sectioned bow is slightly narrower than the head; it flares towards the bottom, where it curves downwards, terminati…

Two panels of grooved decoration adorn the rearward lug, and a series of vertical grooves extends along the upper surfaces of both wings. The bow is of oval section, its …

An incomplete early medieval copper alloy cruciform brooch, dating to AD 450-600. The brooch consists of a square head-plate with irregularly shaped wings on either side. Ontop of the head is a domed knop with moulded collar. The brooch has an arched bow with faceted corners, slightly concave on the back. The brooch is broken below the arched bow.
