An incomplete Medieval copper-alloy French 'Chatel Tournois' jetton (1373-1437).
The jetton is very similar to Mitchiner 1988: 187, ref: 505.
Obverse: +AVE MARIA GRACIA PL; Formal Chatel Tournois design with lis above its central triangle and annulets on top of the lateral 'turrets'. Nothing in the field to either side of the chatel, all within an inner circle
Reverse: Triple stranded straight cross fleuretty within a double-stranded quatrefoil, A-V-E-D in the external angles of the quatrefoil

A Medieval copper-alloy French jetton, probably struck at Tournai, dating to c. 15th century AD. The type seems to be of Tournai stye, approximating an older French design (Shield of France modern, but having lost the shield). Similar examples are recorded on the PAS database, for example: HAMP-ADC141 and NARC2727. Cf. Mitchener 641-645.
Obverse: Three large lis within a pelleted inner circle surmounted by a star above.
Obverse legend: illegible; seems to begin at the 10 o'clock position with two stars, possibly AVE AVE.
