Silver cut half penny probably of King John struck by the moneyer Iohan (Johan) at an uncertain mint - most probably Canterbury but this part of the coin is cut away. From the look and feel of the lettering and portrait this coin is likely to belong to Short Cross Class 5 - struck between 1204-1207 - this is one of the most common classes and Canterbury is also a prolific mint at this time.

Post Medeival (probably Georgian) handle only of a Seal Matrix, the Seal itself being absent. The handle has a hanging loop protruding from the top of an openwork shaped support for the oval-shaped seal frame which is slightly bow-shaped and rocks from side to side, presumably to give better definition to the seal when in use. The hanging loop has a point above and below the loop like a pointer. 29.07mm tall X 24.53mm wide/long at base X 10.25mm across oval. Weighs 2.62g.

Medieval clipped hammered silver coin of Henry I, a cut haflpenny. It is a quadrilateral on cross fleury type and is BMC xv therfore the last issue of Henry's reign. The mint and moneyer are unknown. Though the letters NHE are visible, it was not minted in Bury St Edmunds as the inscription is wrong. Obverse legend should read HENRIC REX. Dates to 1134 or 1135.
Length 18mm and width 8mm.

An early post medieval cast copper alloy multifoil flat mount with central flower design with centre and six surrounding circular bosses, 17th century in date. The mount has two integral pointed attachment lugs protruding from the reverse. The mount is 21mm in diameter, 4.4mm thick and weighs 3.91 grams.

An incomplete lead seal matrix of Medieval date. It was originally flat, but has been bent, circular in form and missing more than half of the matrix due to old breaks. The front face has a piece missing in the middle within an inner grooved border. This is surrounded by a legend reading S W C ... ) W I L L (.), a personal name presumably for an individual named Will. The surviving seal matrix measures 23.68mm in length, 14.91mm in width, 1.33mm in thickness and 4.08g in weight.

The ring is of the characteristic early to middle Roman period with a heavy metal hoop and smooth swelling profile which tapers from the narrow back of the hoop to a broader bezel. A folded strip of copper alloy, folded length-ways and tapering towards a terminal that appears to consist of two rounded lobes, folded underneath the object as if to create a type of hinge. The opposing terminal is simply squared off with a rivet hole close to the end. Close to the opposing narrow terminal on the reverse a copper loop has been passed through the strip. Post Medieval lead alloy or lead cloth seal mid 16th to 18th century AD. The seal is possibly English and appears to have a stylised letter S within a wreathe border on the obverse and the reverse is illegible. No exact parallel has been found. A collection of locally made medieval pottery, probably depostied on the fields as a result of mauring practices. The collection comprises 6 rim sherds, 1 base sherd and 14 body sherds. The fabrics area all similar to the Kennet Valley and Abingdon type wares of the late 11th to 15th century AD. They vary in colour from grey through to orange although all have a grey core. Tempers used include crushed flint / stones and some grit. The holes seen in some of the more orangey fabrics is where chalk or other minerals have leached out in the firing process. A complete cast copper alloy buckle dating to the medieval or post-medieval period. The buckle has a rectangular frame comprised of two loops; the pin bar is integrally cast and the copper alloy pin is retained. The frame is simple and undecorated. This type of buckle dates from c. AD 1350-1700 however they are mainly found in early post-medieval contexts which suggests this was their main period of use.
