One complete half of a Post-Medieval (1500-1650) copper alloy two-part toggle clasp (eye section) of Read Type5, from a sword belt of 16th to 17th century date. This fitting is all case-in-one and comprises a curvilinear main body with three lobed projections at each side and a small circular raised projection at one end decorated with a clockwise impeller. This projection forms the male side of the clasp and would have fitted into an opening in the opposing part of the clasp.
