A Post Medieval rectangular double looped cast copper alloy buckle with drilled frame for a seperate iron spindle. The spindle is now missing along with the pin/chape. The frame is plain with a distinct arch in profile suggesting it is from a shoe, knee or hat. The centre of the long sides are expanded downards into an oval at the centre and drilled through the expansion for the spindle. It measures 35.35mm long by 28.47mm wide and 2.33mm thick. It weighs 6.09 grams. Parallels for this type of buckle can be seen in Whitehead, (2003) p104 which he dates from AD 1720 to 1790s.

A worn and corroded iron dove type horseshoe rom the Medieval period.The heels are tapered on the flat side, with no evidence of calkins. The shoe has a round frog with equal branches and three square nail holes to each branch. Four square-headed nails survive in situ. This is probably a saddle shoe. Cf; Ivan G. Sparkes. An incomplete and corroded post-Medieval copper-alloy finger-ring (1500-1800). The base of the hoop is missing due to transverse breaks. This ring has an oval bezel with a depression that depicts an upright bird with outstretched wings and talons with a fan tail. The head is facing left. It is likely to be a bird of prey. An incomplete copper alloy Roman Trumpet brooch (variant) dating from c. AD 75 - 175. The bow of the brooch has an angular profile and an angular D shaped cross section. The bow tapers from a flared head to a break on the midpoint of the bow. The break is old and patinated.The head of the brooch is near-complete but eroded; it is oval in plan, and tapers into the bow. A near complete cast copper alloy hinged Colchester derivative (Dolphin style) brooch of Roman date (43-120AD). The wings are complete and rectangular. The hinge is enclosed within a rolled case; the axis bar holding the pin is made of copper alloy. The pin (which is broken) is fitted through a vertical slot at the centre of the wings; it is rectangular in plan and cross section. The bow head is hump-like, and extremely angular in profile. An incomplete cast copper alloy finger ring of 2nd Century Roman date (AD 100-200). The bezel is a horizontal oval, with an oval cell in the centre. This cell is divided vertically and horizontally by four lentoid shaped pellets. The divided cells would have been filled with a coloured glass / enamel or paste. All that survives of this is a light grey cream coloured corrosion product. The undecorated shoulders taper towards the loop, of which only a small portion remains. Cast copper alloy artefact, probably an openwork belt plate / belt stiffener of Roman date AD 50 - 350. The plate is broadly triangular in plan having rounded corners; in section is rectangular. The apex of the triangle has been pierced by a single rivet role (internal diameter: 3.4mm). Whilst the body is also pierced by an irregular trapezoidal shape that echoes the external shape of the plate (irregular rectangle internal length 12.8, maximum width 11.1mm). A worn and corroded dove type iron horseshoe from the Medieval period.Both branches are equal in form and are thickened at the heel. The left branch has four rectangular nail holes; the right branch has three nail holes. The holes are tapered on both branches. The shoe is a little distorted, has a round frog and is of flat section. This is probably a saddle shoe. This shoe does not have the recesses for T-shaped nails, so it is probable that spiked ,square-headed or french nails may have been used. Also, this shoe is quite large and so may be a draught shoe.
