Object type: STRAP FITTING
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An incomplete, cast copper-alloy strap hook with integral loop dating to the early post-Medieval period. The object consists of a plate, sub-oval in plan, with a broken, circular loop at one end. Between this broken loop and the plate is a moulded, tranverse collar with a transverse groove dividing it into two equal sections. The opposite end of the plate is broken but would, originally, have had an integrally-moulded, blunt hook projecting from it. The hook is now missing. Read compares these to Class F, Type 3, single recurving, sharp-hooked clasps and dates them to the 17th century.
