A copper alloy possible Roman nail. The nail has a bulbous head and a sub-rectangular sectioned shank, which is integral to the head. The shank has a broken terminal, and this break is not recent. The nail is covered with a well developed mid green patina. It measures 20.32mm long, 8.41mm diameter and weighs 2.4g. Crummy (Crummy, N 1983 Colchester Archaeological Report 2: The Roman Small Finds from Excavations in Colchester 1971-9, Colchester Archaeological Trust) illustrates similar nails, Nos. 2995 and 3021 from the Roman period.

A copper alloy possible late Early Medieval and early Medieval period scabbard chape. The artefact is in the form of a simplistic dog, only the head and body are represented. The nose of the dog, in profile forms the terminal of the artefact. The profile of the head is triangular, and is also sub-triangular in section. The eyes are formed by what appears to be separate dome-headed studs, however only one remains and this is quite bulbous and has green copper corrosion over the surface, unlike that of the rest of the artefact. A fragment of Late Medieval/ Early Post-Medieval (1450-1550) copper alloy purse bar of Ward Perkins Class A1. The bar is circular in cross-section (max.diameter c.7mm) and is decorated with a double strand lattice flanked to either end with a single groove, all infilled with niello. Both ends have worn breaks, one just before the central block, the other at the narrowed section where the frame would have been suspended. On the lower side of the surviving bar is a projecting tab which is pierced with two holes, c.2mm in diameter. Measures 53.07x7.05x11.04mm and weighs 14.40g.

An almost complete Roman copper alloy enamelled flat disc with peripheral lugs. Running through the centre from spring end to catchplate end is a c.4mm wide rectangular cell with copper alloy walls and filled with red enamel, with a circular area of probably copper alloy at the centre. From either end of this cell runs a cell to either side, flanking the edge of the brooch. An incomplete Roman (AD 50 - 150) copper alloy Colchester derivative type brooch, missing its spring mechanism, pin, and lower bow and catchplate. It measures 21.2mm in incomplete length and weighs 5.19 grams. The wingspan is 23.60mm and the wings are C-shaped in section and hollow for the spring. A broken projection is all that remains of the forward-facing hook at the top of the bow. The upper bow has a pronounced hump. The bow is undecorated.

A Medieval (1200-1400) copper-alloy horse harness pendant with traces of a white-metal coating (tinning or silvering), and areas of possible gilding (or perhaps the scratched original surface of the copper alloy). It is the form of a septfoil with a moulded sexfoil at the centre around a single copper alloy pellet. Both outer and inner petals are recessed. The loop is turned through 90 degrees and has traces of silvering/ tinning to both sides. Measures 26.97x18.36x5.24mm and weighs 4.56g.
