Medieval copper alloy composite buckle or strap-end. Rectangular plate, concave attachment edge with central circular notched aperture and rivet hole to either side, one of which retains a copper alloy rivet. Irregular transverse break. Oblique file marks and scar from (missing) forked spacer on reverse. Spacer, frame, pin and back-plate missing. Surviving length 37mm. Width 22mm. See Egan and Pritchard (2002), 142, fig.93, no.653, 144, fig.94, no.172 and 79, fig.48, nos.322 - 324. 13th - 14th century.

A single looped cast copper alloy buckle. The buckle frame is a 'D' shape in plan. It has a slightly narrowed strap bar which is oval in section, but it is not an off-set strap bar. The frame is the same width until the strap bar. The loop is semi-circular in section. The frame has a well developed shiny mid green/grey coloured patina. An Early Medieval cast copper-alloy stirrup-strap mount, dating to the 11th century AD. Williams' Class A, Type 8. The mount is flat on the outer plate, with a small base oriented perpendicular to the outer plate that has two circular rivet holes. The mount depicts a zoomorphic face with unclear detail on the obverse. Iron rivets survive in the two holes at the base and there are the remains of an iron strip on the back of the base.
