Incomplete cast copper alloy spur, missing its attachment terminals on its bent shanks, which would have attached to the heel of the boot. The shanks, which are D-shaped in plan and section, would have tapered towards these terminals and widen to 14 mm in height where they meet the neck of the rowel box. The rowel box then curves downwards and is ovate in plan and crescentic in profile, with a 11 mm long and 4 mm wide rowel slot, but missing its rowel and pin to hold it in place. The surface of the spur is quite corroded so that it is unclear if there was originally any decoration. …

Roughly circular silver ingot with rounded sides and two flat, probably hammered surfaces. The date is unknown, though it is likely to be more than 300 years old. It does not fit well into any of the three weight systems of the Late Saxon period (Kruse 1992, 86-87, Table 1 top line). The findspot is within a site with evidence for intense late Iron Age and Roman activity. The object cannot be considered as a coin blank of either period because it is too heavy. Weight 3.85g. Diameter 10.5 - 11.2mm. Thickness 5.7mm. Compare NMS-A9CFFD (2016T817), which is almost exactly half the weight.
