Copper alloy circular one drachm apothecary weight, used to weigh mediciines, probably made by Peter Rogers & Company of Birmingham, c.1852 onwards. The obverse has the St Edward's Crown with the inscription 'APOTHECARIES [WEIGHT]'. The reverse shows the denomination in traditional symbols (appearance similar to '3j') and has the inscription 'ONE DRAM'. The designs on both sides are contained within plain inner and beaded outer circles. The figure has been decorated on both sides, with different details of the rider and horse on each side. Cast pewter handle from a large spoon, with a rounded terminal and plain upper face and a tapering mid rib on the back of the handle. On the back of the stem are four stamps within separate oblong reserves, one reads 'THOMAS' and next to it the 'Y' of 'YATES', and on the other side of the mid-rib, the words 'STEEL' and then 'WIRE'. Thomas Yates was a pewterer between 1849 and 1882, based in Birmingham, which was a centre for the production of pewter during the 19th century. Ingot of an undetermined white metal, shaped with many hammer blows. It is of unknown age. The ingot is as it came out of the ground and has not been tarnished by the soil.It is heavy enough to be electrum but there is no yellow to its colour. Another similar object has been found nearby. The length is 39mm, width 20mm, thickness 9mm, and the weight is 8.76g.
