A post-Medieval copper-alloy candlestick. The artefact has become detached from its base. The baluster-moulded stem has a hollow centre and extends into a hollow cylindrical socket at the top. Dimensions: 103.7mm long, 29.9mm wide. Weight: 85.91g. Roger Brownsword identifies the introduction of candlesticks with moulded sockets (as opposed to the preceeding straight-sided ones) as having occurred in the late 16th century (1985: 1). The suggested date range for this piece is late 16th to 17th century.
