Incomplete tinned cast copper alloy spectacle or double-loop buckle frame with lozenge-shaped knops on the outer edge of each side loop and trefoil moulding at either end of the strap bar. Beyond the strap bar, the other half of the frame has broken off. The strap bar is narrowed and flush with the frame and the pin that would have attached to it is now missing. Surface white powdering and small white metal patches suggest that the frame was originally tinned. Whitehead (1996) illustrates a similar buckle on page 65, No.402, which is dated from c.1550-1650.
